BIO
Writer. Media personality. Professional cynic.
Born and raised in the city of Toronto, I’m a media professional with over a decade of experience in broadcasting and journalism as a writer, editor, photographer and on-air presenter.
Starting out at the University of Toronto’s The Window, I worked my way from columnist to Editor-in-Chief. I also found time to work as a writer and editor for the Toronto-based Bright Anvil Studios and as a photographer for New Zealand’s Lucire.com during Toronto Fashion Week in 2002 and 2003.
In 2004, I joined the team at Toronto’s #1 Classic Rock radio station, Q107. Working as the Producer of The Kim Mitchell Show until 2009, I struck out on my own as host of the #1 rated Q Saturday Afternoon and Psychedelic Psunday Evening. In 2008, I became the writer of Q107.com’s Rock Report and from 2009 through 2011, I wrote the offbeat WTF?! with Jason Ward blog.
Over the years, I’ve interviewed the likes of Anvil, Alex Lifeson of Rush, famed producer Daniel Lanois and many other media figures. In 2011, I became the first host of Q107′s Sound Academy Sessions, interviewing Canadian bands like Chilliwack and Goddo in concert before a live audience.
Now the owner of JW Media, I provide writing, editing and media services on a freelance basis to interested clients.
Here at JasonWard.ca, you’ll find samples of my varied works on the page, on the air and online.
